Our Mission

The Junior Astros Lacrosse Program provides an opportunity for players from Derry & Hampstead as well as the other towns that feed Pinkerton Academy to play lacrosse at a very high level and at the same time bring together the players on and off the field to build lasting friendships and strong bonds prior to entry into Pinkerton Academy.

The longevity of the program is deeply rooted in the depth of our coaching staff as well as the administration consisting of representatives from both youth organizations. We look to not only raise the level of play at Pinkerton Academy but also to elevate the level of play within the State of New Hampshire.

How will the teams be selected? Are there try-outs? Coaching?
A two-step process will be put in place to select the 2018 Jr Astro Teams: The talent pool will come from Derry & Hampstead as well as the other towns that feed Pinkerton Academy. The boys will be offered high level coaching from past and present collegiate players, high school players and experienced adult coaches.

Step 1: Players will be evaluated by the coaches of the Jr Astro teams during the regular NHYLA season. The Town program coaches will suggest players based on their observations throughout the season and select the boys who will be a good fit for tryouts.

Step 2: Players will be evaluated on the basic lacrosse skills of passing and throwing as well as more advanced skills and strategies. The players will also be involved in multiple scrimmage style drills to simulate game play and lacrosse IQ. Final selections are approved by the Jr Astro Head coaches.

Our Beliefs

The organization looks to build on the skills being taught at the youth level and provide a venue for those players who show promise as they approach their High School years. Through Elite tournaments as well as instruction by former Pinkerton Academy players and certified US Lacrosse coaches, our goal is to feed our High School teams with top quality, well-disciplined, enthusiastic lacrosse players.
